Meaning unknown is Nama, tongue before the first g-, the two g's as in 'good'. located in the Richtersveld reserve. On old small-scale maps, it also occurs as GqayGas '. [In another handwriting is filled in:] 'Gaixas River, Gaixas = Pofadder'.
