Chaib (Xaib)

Windsorton is a village on the Vaal River in the Barkly West District, named after its founder PE Windsor (1869). Earlier it was a digger camp known as Hebron. The Korananaam of the region was Xai-B, also in Nama is Xai-B a 'Kudu', cf. Rust 1960 DNW 37. afr Windsorton is ’n dorpie aan die Vaalrivier in die distrik Barkly-Wes, genoem na sy stigter PE Windsor (1869). vroeër was dit ’n delwerskamp bekend as Hebron. Die Korananaam van die streek was xai-b, ook in Nama is xai-b ’n 'koedoe', vgl. Rust 1960 DNW 37. Al is die Khoekhoense vorm vervang deur die nuwe naam Windsorton, leef dit tog vertaald voort in die plaasnaam Koedoes Dam, nr Kim.Q.4-11 op K 2824 BC, en in die naam van die sylyn Koedoe op hierdie plaas.
