In hierdie vorm nie as plaasnaam bewaar nie. Volgens suigkonsonante (ons duidelikste hulp hier) wel te verstaan as ǃgu-ei = 'das Gesicht bedecken' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 145), by ei- [ai-j = gesig, oppervlakte, die 'Toegesigplek'. Die Kriegskarte 1904 situeer dit nog net met ’n vraagteken, sodat die naam toe reeds minder gebruiklik geword het. Moontlik het dit geskiedkundige waarde t.o.v. die Topnaargroepie hier net oos van Warmbad.
