The name arrives on the topo-cadastral series 1966 Skin 2816 Alexander Bay as 'Kodas River' and 'Kodas Peak', on the corresponding topographical map 1974 is LG. 'Kodaspiek', but Kodas River now appears as 'Bloubos River'. We lead it to the old river name was replaced.

Die betekenis is aangegee as serpentynsteen of 'soapstone' waaruit tabakspype gemaak is. Die naam kom op die Topo-kadastrale reeks 1966 vel 2816 Alexander Bay voor as 'Kodasrivier' en 'Kodas Peak', op die ooreenstemmende Topografiese kaart 1974 is lg. 'Kodaspiek', maar Kodasrivier verskyn nou as 'Bloubosrivier'. Ons lei daarvan af dat die ou riviernaam vervang is.
