afr 1870 vgl. Van Vreeden 1961 hieronder 'Kitzikama'; 'Tsitjikama'. Stevens CM 1877 Remarks TSAPS / 59 'Near Cawood's Hope, at a bend in the Vaal River...there grew not very long since, camel thorn trees, eight in number. As these trees were a remarkable feature in the land scape the natives called the spot Xlisi Xlanna or ‘eight camel thorns’ from the Koran- na words Xlisi, meaning ‘eight’, and Xlanna, signifying ‘camel thorn tree’. At the time my brother visited the spot there were only two of the trees remaining, and now probably the ruthless hand of the invading digger has cleared away the last vestige of the trees that gave the name to the locality'. Stow 1905 Native Races 146 '...we find Kisi’kamma on the Vaal...' Pettman 1931 SAPN 22 '...in (Keis)kamma, the name given by the diamond diggers to a place on the Vaal River (ǀǀkheisa, eight; ǀǀganab, Acacia giraf- fae), it would be impossible to recognise the original ǀǀganab, did we not know how the change came about. The Hottentots gave their name to the place because of a group of eight camelthorns which grew there, a striking feature in an almost treeless region...' Van Vreeden 1961 Oorsprong 371 'Keisikama. Aan die Vaalrivier wes van Barkly-Wes... I uit bronne aangehaal:] 1870 Kitzikama; 1870 Tsitjikama... len dan die afleiding soos by Pettman hierbo.l'
