Cnydas
The name often occurs, also on the census card of 1891. The big farm still bears the name, is honored in Cnydas East Gor.Q. 3-3 and C.-West 3-49, e.g. on, LG. At the main road and the railway of Upington. The name of the sideline on Cnydas-East is called 'Lutzputs', to a well-known family head there, d.w.s. There are a puts on the farm. The -s of Cnydas do refer to this. Cnydas is then thrown the 'puts (-s) with ashes,' or 'asgaaiputs', according to Engelbrecht. Lightenstein 1805 Gee for 'Werfen Mit Der Hassagay' ǀ NOAA (HOTT 288), in Nama =) Moa, but Nama has throw-with-a-spear etc. The word ǀǀ Hei (Hott 288) reflected in the place name with the 'clumsy' CNY. The -Da (s) of the name is then for 'ASGaai', by Engelbrecht spelled -tha- (s), possibly connected with Nama -Kha-, but it is now used for a bow. Whatever, about the meaning we have a clear statement by one spokesman, a statement that seems acceptable.
