This is a correction at the return in th a * 204 where Mr Krenz connects the closing part of the name with ǀ onu- = finger, but now declares it as a whole as 'bladed basalt head', nav the black (╪nu ) Color of the basalteen the same name that J Coits 220 years ago (1760) gave it; he called it 'black mountain', cf. VRV 28 34-5. The old inland name is then literally 'flat, bladed black', where the 'Black' to understand is 'black-basalt head', and where the -b of the ml. Ekv. Act as index of a mountain name.

Dit is ’n korreksie by die opgawe in TH A* 204 waar mnr Krenz die slot- deel van die naam verbind het met ǀonu- = vinger, maar dit nou as geheel verklaar as 'Afgestompte basaltkop', n.a.v. die swart (╪nu) kleur van die basaltsteen. Dit is bepaald korrek. Met die reeks SWA skaal 1:50 000 1978 vel 2818 BD Kais voor ons, merk ons dat die berg vandag die naam het van 'Swartkop' met landmetersbaken 12 daarop. Dit is dan ongeveer die- selfde naam wat J Coetse 220 jaar gelede (1760) daaraan gegee het; hy het dit genoem 'Swarte Berg', vgl. VRV 28 34-5. Die ou inlandse naam is dan letterlik 'Plat, afgestompte swart', waar die 'swart' te verstaan is as 'swart-basalt-kop', en waar die -b van die ml. ekv. optree as indeks van ’n bergnaam.
