Nabis

There are at least three native names for this place, the best known is Aigams who also indicated Windhoek at a time, then we get a different name at Gordon, viz. Absites or Eibees, literally 'Badplaas' or 'Warm Source', and here now a name that appears in the text and is only kept on the map. The -bis (or -bes and -bees) is a place-nourished suffix, the na- like Nama ╪n = pouring out and entry (from the kettle molding), after-bis then 'disposal spot' or 'cutout', 'Cathatration' . Cfg. Kr. 1969 NW 285, and O.A. Nabibis.

Description
eng There are at least three native names for this place, the best known is Aigams who also indicated Windhoek at a time, then we get a different name at Gordon, viz. Nabibis.
Vgl. Kr.-R. 1969 NW 285, en o.a. NABIBIS.
