Ukamas
It's about Ukamas, farm No. 69, just west of Ariamsvlei, on the farm was a railway station, and already in German time a job place (Kriegskarte), also afterwards, but Ariamsvlei took over the features. Our statements come from Dr. Vedder and Mr Christian, and sever. In 1947, Vedder thought of ǀ U = Brak, in 1928ǃ U = Claw, hoof, and Christian thinkǃ U- = forehead. In 1947, Dr. Vedder declared the second member as a Gam- = water, in 1928 as gamas = cow, also Christian as cattle. There are also other statements. We still call one. Dr of Vredes 1961 Origin 572 believes the first member is 'Presumably Namaǃ You = grazing', the second is ǀǀ gami = water. The cold fact is that we do not know an early statement, and now have to work with probabilities.
