Kungkab
We only find this name on the crickey. We believe we can determine its meaning. The verifiable facts are the following: Kungkab is a tributary of the Cainab River (old spelling geiab), it flows from the western direction in the Cainab and is received by the Kainab north of Blydeveverwacht. With the locations of the Old Mission mail Blydeverwacht and the river Davib as beacons, we can determine that Kungkab is the old name of the river is at the upper part of which 'Elandsdraai' is (cf. topographical series 1973 Skin 2818 Warmbaths). Elandsdraai is farm No. 71, it certainly received his name from the river, the Elands River, in Nama Kungkab, as we believe. The - (g) CAB is with little doubt equipped with Namaǃ (K) A-B = River, as it occurs in many river names. The member is, so it seems to us here, equal to Namaǃ Can- = 'Elan' (Rest 1960 DNW 17), cf. Gantouw Oa The (ǃ) Can- also come with a Stem voter -u- for, cf. Hott 264 at Kolbe 1708. Kungkab is then possibly translated as 'Elands River', a name that is still preserved in the farm name 'Elandsheis', appears to be his number 71 an old farm.
