Kanabeam, Kanabium

The farm is partly on the Gamkab River, on its northern bank. The Gamkab's Dutch / German name was by 1900, 1910 and later 'Kameloorn- / Kameldorn River'. Gamchab, Gamkab. To the old name, the brook 'Gamelloop' reminds the Gamkab, east of Kanaboam, and then Kanaboam itself. The cana is clear in this topographical bond as Nama ǀǀ Gana- 'Kameldornbaum (Giraffen- Akazie)' (Rust 1960 DNW 34). The -a- is for a locative, and -am- = mouth, opening where water is. The 'place where the camel thorn tree / trees stand at a fountain / water opening'. The indefinite of the -be -am to -bIc is well joking, regardless of whether it is so meant or not
