Gowachab

Very important stretching and drinking place in the old days on the Wapad of Goodhousedrif (Gudaos) northwards, is often mentioned in the travel reports. Name was disappearing by 1900 (see Krikgarte). In addition to the Obiberge in the dune, according to Kriegmarte. According to Hahn's writing (without Schnalz), as Nama Gowaxa [cowaxal = 'spinal, Redegandt' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 113) ,. 'Speech place' (at throttle, rally?). We would have thought speculative to Nama ǀ gowaxa = dune like, 'Diinenreich' (Kr.R. 119), the place between the many dunes.

Naam was besig om teen 1900 te verdwyn (kyk Kriegskarte). le naas die Obibberge in die duinstreek, volgens Kriegskarte. Volgens Hahn se skryfwyse (sonder schnalz) wel te verstaan soos Nama gowaxa [kowaxal = 'gespriichig, redegewandt' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 113), . 'Spraaksame plek' (by uitspanning, saamtrek?). Ons sou spekulatief wou gedink het aan Nama ǀgowaxa = duinagtig, 'diinenreich' (Kr.-R. 119), die plek tussen die baie duine.
