On the modern maps, the name for Farm No. 28 appeared as 'Stinkdorn', in his German form, but on the farm is a horn that was entered as 'stinking thorn'. SWA Series 1974 Skin 2718 Grizinu. The tar road after Aroab runs through stinkdorn. Stinkdo (o) RN / -Toring voice sharing part with Nama ǀ O = stink, and 11khu- = thorn (tree), probably the non-tree (Boscia foetida) that emits a strong stench in its blossom time. Also Smith CA 1966 CNSAP 439 who passes stinkdoring as a common name of the Boscia Foetida.

Dit is die antwoord op ons vraag of plase in die omgewing vroeër Nama- name gehad het wat nou vertaal of verander is. 'Stinkdoorn' is egter oud, ons kom dit in die vorm tee in Sprigade-Moisel 1904 Kriegskarte. Op die moderne kaarte kom die naam vir plaas nr 28 voor as 'Stinkdorn', in sy Duitse vorm, maar op die plaas is by die fontein 'n gehug wat as 'Stink- doring' ingeskryf is, vgl. Stinkdo(o)rn/-doring stem deel vir deel ooreen met Nama ǀo = stink, en 11khu- = doring(boom), waarskynlik die noenieboom (Boscia foetida) wat in sy bloeiseltyd ’n sterk stank afgee, vgl. ook Smith CA 1966 CNSAP 439 wat stinkdoring aangee as volksnaam van die Boscia foetida.
