Op die DSWA-reeks 1910 Blatt 28 Oranjemiindung-Holoog is dit ingeskryf as 'Pavianskranz', sy omgewing as 'Randberge'. Dit le nog net in die distrik Bethanien. Pastor Rust (1960 DNW 47) moderniseer die ou naam Nar(a)guab soos volg: 'Pavianskluft — ǀnera-ǀǀhoab'. In Kr.-R. 1969 NW 288 word 'bob- bejaan' in Nama aangegee as 'ǀnerab, ǀnorab', volgens die opgawe van die naam in die Kriegskarte is gehoor '(ǀ)narab'. Daar is dan ’n ruim mate van wisseling in die stamklinker, a/e/o. Die tweede lid is soos Nama ]ǀhoa- = krans, sodat Nerahoa-b (klapsuiers weggelaat) die ou Na- r(a)guab is en letterlik beteken 'Bobbejaankrans', op 'n keer 'Pavianskranz', vertalings van die oorspronklike Khoekhoense naam wat self verdwyn het. Die naam vertel wel dat in hierdie landskap bobbejane gehou het (of nog hou?). Die ml. ekv. -b verwys na die berg(krans). Vergelyk verder TH A** 886.
