In Kr.-R. 1969 NW 288 word 'bob- bejaan' in Nama aangegee as 'ǀnerab, ǀnorab', volgens die opgawe van die naam in die Kriegskarte is gehoor '(ǀ)narab'. Die tweede lid is soos Nama ]ǀhoa- = krans, sodat Nerahoa-b (klapsuiers weggelaat) die ou Na- r(a)guab is en letterlik beteken 'Bobbejaankrans', op 'n keer 'Pavianskranz', vertalings van die oorspronklike Khoekhoense naam wat self verdwyn het. Die naam vertel wel dat in hierdie landskap bobbejane gehou het (of nog hou?). Die ml. ekv. -b verwys na die berg(krans). Vergelyk verder TH A** 886.
