Apparently the name of the place on the Kuruman River where the town is located today and is called to the river. The Riversie, the Griquas and the Koranas, called the Tswanas with whom they came into contact, the goat people, the Birin or Birigua, of Biri-B [Piri] Bokram, also beri-b. The word Briekwa still exists as a kind name for O.A. The Boer goat in Afrikaans (K which). Cfg. Prieska.
