Khoros
For us it is again a fascinating case. The name disappears on later maps, so it does not appear on the DSWA series 1911 Blatt 29 Warmbaths. Careful comparison of the old and younger cards reveals that this Khoros laid where about 1910 off or earlier 'Vellicke' farm No. 76, here opposite the northeastern end of the Karas Mountains. And with that, the solution was given. 'Vellicke' is spelled in its ground form as in Afrikaans or Dutch, in its exit as in German, for the Afrikaans (or the Dutch). 'Velletje', or 'skin' is partially foorded to 'vellicke in spell. It's just the translation of Khoens Kho-Ro-S, with Kho- = 'The Haut. Das Fell '(Kr.- R. 1969 NW 238), the -ro- (in this regard Actually -Ro-: cf And the - S of the Fern. Singing, is an indication that the place name applies to (as here) a source. In the early days, this was an important strain at the water drink. The farm is still in the district of Keetmanshoop, southeast of the town.
