Umis
Members of Mr Frederick's team know the farm Umis No 86, southeast of Bethanien, on the west bank of the Fish River. They give the same transition as the Namasker in th a ** 1086, but of two whites we received totally deviant statements, eg. One goes out of Schlaf '(Kr.-r. 1969 NW 332). In the two statements of + to-s and = BUMs, the usual change of-and -u-. The -s (Fern, sing.) Indicate That the starting point is the water location, eg. a source. Survey also calls a river 'Umis', but also not on SWA series 1976 Skin 2617 DC Feldschuhhorn (1:50 000) it is subscribed.

Hulle gee dieselfde ver- klaring as die Namaspreker in TH A** 1086, maar van twee Blankes het ons totaal afwykende verklarings ontvang, bv. een gaan uit van ǀu = 'un- bekannt, mis = Wort'. Dit is daarom dat ons die herbevestigende verkla- ring van ’n hele span hier opneem, 'n span wat tot grondslag neem Nama f om-s = 'defer Schlaf' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 332). In die twee uitsprake van + om-s en =bums is die gewone wisseling van -o- en -u-. Die -s (fern, sing.) dui wel aan dat die beginpunt die waterplek, bv. ’n bron was. Opmeting noem ook ’n rivier 'Umis', maar ook nie op SWA-reeks 1976 vel 2617 DC Feldschuhhorn (1:50 000) is dit ingeteken nie.
