Gobas
Gobas, Farm No. 134, Dist. Keetmanshoop, and station 10 km from town, Le southwest of the town, to the main road to Seeheim. It is not the same place to the Lowen River, spelled ╪K (H) Obas = tick. The cobas lie on S 2618 CC (not on CA). Between the two nearby places must be clearly distinguished. This Gobas, farm No. 134, is also heard as Kowas. The striking is that no single spokesman except Dr Budack writes a suction consonant for it, nor Hahn. The statement for Gobas 134 must be different from 'tick', but on Gobas, of course, the place ╪k-hobas le can refer to Dr Budack. About the meaning of Gobas (without suction consonant in front), we found no clear instruction. We believe there are in direct directions. The gu- (without suction flap) of the river where gobas lies means 'sheep', cf. Guachab, and near his outwriting in the Grootfish River also lies a 'Schaapplaats' No. 121, east of Seeheim, and the old inland name of Seeheim itself, are all fingers that our Gobas in its first component may be related to Nama gu- = sheep.
