Kubaub

The name should not be divided into the Cub + AUB, as we first did when we note that the river runs over the farm Aurus No. 149, D.I. 'Fountain', with ground word ǀ au-b = fountain. It has nothing to do with ǀ AUB. The division is in Cuba + UB and Member for Member corresponds to Kubakop who we discussed in th a ** 789-790. Today it comes on maps as 'sheep river', on S 2317 D (Rehoboth). In fact, this Cuba (k) up of Keetmanshoop Seeheim has also discussed our name form, viz. Under Guachab in th a * 468-9, literally 'sheep ram', at gu = sheep, and axa-b = boy, boy. Guachab is an alternative name form of Cubaub, as it looks. One can form a good picture of how the river starts in its upperpures as a series of SWA 1976 scale 1:50 000 sheet 2618 CA Keetmanshoop. The AUB runs past the northwest eastern at Keetmanshoop and becomes a tributary of the Cubaub, which begins northeast of Keetmanshoop. The Cubaub then flows west until he runs out in the Fish River at Seeheim. Just as the confluence le the farm No 121 called 'Schaapplaats'. Cubaub, or the alternative guachab. is no longer used. On the latest cards, it appears as 'sheeprivier' earlier also known as Schaffluss, especially in German times. We then have two different sheep rivers. For the linguistic remarks, Kubakop looks.
