afr Dit is die enigste optekening van die Namanaam wat ons vir hierdie afge- snede eilandjie raakgeleës het. Dit behoort tot die pikkewyneilande wat vir die guanohandel van so groot belang was/is. Kyk ons na die pragtige kaart wat die afdeling Natuurbewaring van die SWA-administrasie agterop die bekendstellingsboekie luderitz s.j. geplaas het, dan lyk die eiland baie asof hy afgesny is, in Nama 11ara- = 'etwas abschneiden, kiirzen, Glied amputieren' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 22).
