Briekwa or painter Boer goats (not Springboks). The mountain therefore got its name from the 'valley' or of a source on its foot. The -s are locative, usually at a source name. Possibly the source name became disused. The AdressBuch 1939 also contains no place with this name. Brinasberg itself was not recorded either. So goat is too understood as a translation from Khoens.
