Swartbooi verwys na dieselfde plant as Schultze. Dit gee ons drie verklarings. Alexander se segsman neem as grondslag Nama ǃnei- (ǃnae-l = kameelperd (vgl. inskrywing NEIMS), maar al die ander het die laterale tongslag gehoor, ǀǀnei- of ǀǀnai, wat ’n verband met die giraf uitskakel. Met die lateraal kry ons die verklarings van (i) Hahn 1901 en mev. Esterhuyse (grondslag ǀǀnai-ams = 'das lied, der Gesang', Kr.-R. 1969 NW 274), en (ii) van Schultze en Swartbooi (grondslag die ǀǀnai'b-plant'). Op bl. 449 het Schultze ’n verhaal wat met die 'ǀǀNais-Busche' te doen het, nerens identifiseer hy die plant nie. Krenz FK 1976 Boer Aantekening se dit is 'n 'Strauch mit feuerroten Beeren'. In die geval van Schultze en Swartbooi beteken -ams dan 'mond', oordragtelik ook opening waar daar water is, soos ’n bron, fontein, seifs rivier, soos by sy uitmonding. Ons voorkeur is vir die verklaring van prof. Schultze.
