We discussed the case in TH a ** 2618 where the owner has linked the name to Namaǃ (KH) AWUS = Guns, and historically motivated. Dr. Budack tie down the name to Nama (Khabus = sandal (Kreenley 1889 Worschatz 193). The old cards give the name with some play. Sprigade Misel 1904 Kriegsk has 'Gabis (Gawus)', and another 'Gawus R.' that no longer appears on our cards. DSWA Series 1912 Blatt 25 Keetmanshoop has a 'F (poor) Kabus' and there is a 'T (ELGRAPH) Gabus'. Is also the -b and the -w. The variants do not help us make a choice between 'gun' and 'sandal'. [Our humanity prefers the 'sandal' above the otherǃ]
