Dit is ons enigste verklaring vir Goreis, plaas nr 174, noordwes van Koes. Saam met mnr Apriels se span en mnr Krenz meen ons dat die lid -ei-s te verstaan is as 'gesig', of beter nog as 'vlakte', in Nama ai-, in Rvnse spelling soos hierbo, nl. ei- (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 60). Om die go- te verbind met Nama go = 'gucken' (Rust 1960 DNW 28) vereis vir gore nog die partikel -re. Die ander verklarings dink aan (gora = deel, skei, ook met ’n slagmes deel. Die gronde is volgens wat die klankgroep oproep, sodat ook gedink kan word aan bv. (gore = bid, of aan 'n verklaring soos 'Sebra- vlakte', 'Kwaggavlakte'. d.w.s. met die verbinding van gor(e)- aan Nama ǃgore- = 'Zebra' (Rust 75). Hierdie plaasnaam verskyn eers laat op ons kaarte, en nerens is daar 'n aanduiding van die suigkonsonant in ons bronne nie. Sebras (terloops gemeld) was hier volop, die feit is o.a. bewaar in ’n ou naam van Gibeon, vgl. GOREGURAABES. Kyk ook GOREIS 1915 vir ander moontlikhede, bv. as 'Aalwynvlakte'
