Duru-oms
Plattfontein', German spelling, already appeared at Sprigade Misel 1904 Kriegbarte. Today it is the name of farm No. 92, right west of the Old Source Grootfontein. This Grootfontein today is again the name of farm Grootfontein No. 91, to which Plattfontein partially borders, westward. The old inland name Duruoms for Plattfontein apparently got lost. We found it on cards. The conservation thanks us via Pastor Moritz to the Family Vlok of Hyas. Here is one of the few cases where the inland name has not been preserved in a translated form. 'Plattfontein' is an alternative name of this. Like Nama Duru- 'The Maus' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 58), and ǀ To- = (here) nest with -S (Fern, sing.) Well to indicate the fountain name, cf. The Afrikaans-German name of today.
