Ons kry dit bv. nie by Alexander 1836-7, Richter 1845, Grundenrann 1867 ens. nie, ook nie op die moderne toeganklike kaarte nie, wel kry ons die daarbyge- lee 'Rantberge'. In die gebied wat die twee aangehaalde kaarte dek, le vandag die plaas Witkrans nr 342. Ons meen hierdie plaas bewaar nog die ou bergnaam. 'Wit' is in Nama ǃuri- (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 373), wat ooreen- stem met die eerste lid van Urihuib. Die -b is die ml. ekv. wat ook se dat die naam die van ’n berg is. Die lid -hui- moet dan die begrip '-krans' vertaal. Dieselfde naam word gespel ǀhui-, met die dentale klapmede- klinker, en wel vir die bergmassas veel suideliker, nl. op 2616/2716 (vgl. HUIB).
