ǀGomxaǃnâs

This applies here the big farms Gomchanas No. 122, and G.-OST No. 125 (Consider about the 20 000 ha), located in the Dist. Mariental, northernmost of the town. The older game form, with voiceless K and with dark-u (German sound value), only passed to Gomchanas for the farm by 1900. However, the railroad bus stop at Gomchanas is spelled Gomganas, n.a.v. The wrong derivation of Dr. Vedder. Dr. Vedder's deviant statement is based on Namaǃ Gum = heavy (with another suction consonant) and ǀǀ Ganas = camel thorn tree, it gives the 'heavily thorn tree spot'. But from early on was given by the missionaries and experts later a statement as analyzed by Mr H. Witbooi above. It was first applied to the fountain (see quote at Rev. Vollmer) who was apparently located in a densable environment, and then went on the farm / farms, a description that is still valid today (Mr. Liabbert). That farm name goes out on -chanas and that it matches Nama ǀǀ Gana- = camel thorn tree is simply a coincidence. The dental suction consonant (not the cerebral) as given by everyone except then at Dr. Vedder, the suction consonant before the -nas, the -exa- in the second legislation and not the -ga- of ǀǀ Ganas, and the Local familiarity of the settlements with the place, make sure the statement, viz. of 'Dickicht', 'Digbest', 'rigid growth'.

Description
eng This applies here the big farms Gomchanas No.
