Volgens sy landkaart le Uep net noordwes van Glenelg’s Bath, die teenswoor- dige Rehoboth, en onmiddellik ten suide van Voelkop ('Aantup'). Waarskynlik af te lei van Nama ǀui-b = klip, rots, berg, d.w.s. die berg wat (vanweë die kwarts of kalk?) wit voorkom.
