Gnutuais

The GNU is like Nama ╪nu = black. The second component also appears as a place name, and also there Alexander translates it with 'Mud', cf. Tuais. The name means Black Modder, but is another place than Keetmanshoop (cf. Nugoaes); From the quote it appears to be under the 20 km of the current Rehoboth. It appears on Schinz 1884-6's map in the same place and square as a new ╪Gois, just below Rehoboth, and translate 'Black Modder'; We believe this is the same place in the old addressiocher as a farm in the Dist. Rehoboth is called 'hybridgebiet' (1939).

afr Die Gnu- is soos Nama ╪nu = swart. TUAIS. Rehoboth voorkom, genoem 'Basterdgebiet' (1939).
