In fact, so plentiful is the ALEXANDER 1836 that Alexander 1836 passes the Kuiseb River as 'Root River', cf. Kuiseb. The 'older' fields K and G- in Anlaut position, as in Old Cape, often occur in Nama without the K or G-. One can call it up, or more positive, glotalization. Cfg. Hott 186-8, 5 C 2, or Maingard 1962 Korana Folktals 6. Garies here is simply an older exchange form of aris means a root (kind). Look further Aris.
