Alexander nennt den Platz Gnutueip...Auf seiner Karte ist es als ‘Gneitueip’ eingezeichnet'.

As in gedagte gehou word dat sommige optekenaars ’n klank in sekere kontekse as g- hoor en ander as t- (vgl. HOTT 179-180), dan is -tu(eip) 'n wisselvorm van -gu(ib) sonder meer, sodat Moritz net die ou spelling gemoderniseer, van sy schnalz voorsien en in sy toepassing as naam topografies verklaar het. 'Swartneus', of beter 'Swartbergneus'. Die -p (-b) lokativeer gewoonlik 'n bergnaam, soos ook hier.
