Kumchuchanub
The current name Springbok, Farm No 266, District Windhoek, is a translation of the old Khoekhoense name. The farm lies on the eastern side of the Karubeam Mountains and border on Kuwinamab 267. In earlier years, it was an area covered by Springboks, several farm names are still reminding it, such as an ancient border farm 'Springboks' No. 269, 'Springbokvley' No. 92 and 131/132 EA, also in the District Gobabis. The kum is like Nama ǀǀ Gu- = 'SPRINGBOCK' (RANT 1960 DNW 58), D.W.S. The nationality of the tribal, the -u-, was realized from the -m of kum-. The change of-andg- (at ǀǀ Gu-) is devoted. The -Chu- is too appreciated as the MV. ml. -Gu-, kumchu = Springboks. The -chanu then then translate the member '-' and will relate to Nama Xanu, which means today to 'pull' through shallow water, such as veins etc. (cf. Rust 72 S.V. 'Waten').
