Oosip, Osib (Ausib)

Alexander distinguishes a distinction between a river east (see USIB) and a mountain Oosip. We couldn't fix if the mountain name still exists. On his map it lies at 2316 AB, west of the current Gamsberg, and only south of the Kuiseb there. It means 'joining', actually a description of what we call in Afrikaans a neck, in Namaǃ Au-B = 'der Ness, der Necken' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 30), so the spelling Ausib or -Seb will be closer to the current ruling. So: The 'place (Sip, Dib) where the mountain forms a neck (ǃ AU for Alexander's OO)', briefly the 'neck'.

Description
eng Alexander distinguishes a distinction between a river east (see USIB) and a mountain Oosip. 1969 NW 30), so the spelling Ausib or -Seb will be closer to the current ruling. afr Alexander trek 'n onderskeid tussen ’n rivier Oosep (kyk USIB) en ’n berg Oosip.
