The name always comes as Tinkas in the reports of whites, and also appears on maps, but the Namakenner Hahn, aware of the distraction, puts him on the view of the Nama and writes it 'Texas'. The too, better ti-, means the 'hindquarters' or 'butt', the -exa- is the quantity builder for 'many', 'rich in'. The translation then is so about the 'big (-Gei [kai]), resp. Small (╪khari) water location (-s) where there are many (-exa) buttocks (to).
