Daobes
Located at the Bolope of the Black Nossob, nearly between Okahandja and Gobabis. The farm otjite-n. No. 160 more north than the mountain, according to the cards. No internal indication of the meaning, probably like Nama Dao = 'Brennen, Kochen' (Kr.R. 1969 NW 53), with Lokativerende formans -bis, thus 'Brandberg' in translation, or otherwise, if the mountain its name From a fountain (because of the -S), then 'Kookfontein' with overstock on the mountain. The Hereronaam Otjite means 'Diirler (Noch Stehender) Baum', according to O. Kohler (Africanischer Heimatkalender 1958 104), and if this tree of the tree is the result of a fire in which it was standing, then there is connection between the Nama and hereroname, so they confirm each other, viz. T.O.V. The statement of Daobis as 'fire-place', which went on the mountain name.
