From the given statements, it is clear that the second member cannot be the Dawe s or Tamarex USNEOIDES (Smith 1966 CNSAP 197). Possibly the component DABE-B = 'Brack, Eine Lime Teams, Zu der Das Wild Zum Lecken Komt' (Krenz 1970 at DABEB ('Brak')), and the AU or guy is then 'bitter', otherwise ǀ U = Salt, brackish. However, here is also a '-bos', probably a Solsola sp. In his note at this name's Krenz FK 1974 farmer O.A. 'Bitterbusch WIRD Allgemein in Namaqua as' Autslkane Bezeichnet '. Moontlik is die komponent dabe-b = 'Brack, eine Kalkpanne, zu der das Wild zum lecken kommt' (Krenz 1970 by DABEB ('brak')), en die au- of ou is dan 'bitter', anders ǀu = sout, brak. Hier is egter ook sprake van ’n '-bos', waarskynlik ’n Salsola sp. In sy aantekening by hierdie naam se Krenz FK 1974 Boer o.a. 'Der Bitterbusch wird allgemein in Namaqua als ‘Autslkane bezeichnet'. Die een of ander is hier nog onseker. Miskien is die enkele verklaring van Max Witbooi nog die waarskynlikste, nl. 'Soutbrakbos', d.w.s. met -dawe- as 'brakbos' en die eerste lid vir 'sout'. Die genusteken vir die masc., nl. -b, sal plekbenoemend wees.
