The mountain, after its estimate a 600 m high, lies a 145 km east of Walvis Bay just above the Kuistib. If Alexander did not give the meaning, we would probably have no advice. The Kokerboom, Aloe Dichotoma, is in Nama ǀǀ Gara (cf. O.a. Garachas) that can alternate with ǀǀ Kharas (cf. Kalagas). Now we know that in Old Cape the G / K often alternates with D / T, especially in the vicinity of a suction cloth (cf. Hott 179 e.v. and 5 e 1). It happens seifs in place namage area, cf. Tounobis. Tara here is reading such as ǀǀ Tara and equal to Nama ǀǀ Gara = Kokerboom. The Hap is like 11ha-B = 'The Schlucht, the Kluft' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 160). Tarahap is then 'Kokerboemskloof' applied to the mountain. The grade square is like on Alexander's card.

Die kokerboom, Aloe dichotoma, is in Nama ǀǀgara- (vgl. o.a. GARACHAS) wat met ǀǀkharas kan afwissel (vgl. KAlAGAS). Nou weet ons dat in Ou-Kaaps die g/k dikwels afwissel met d/t, veral in die omgewing van ’n suigklapper (vgl. HOTT 179 e.v. en 5 E 1). Dit gebeur seifs in plekname in Namagebied, vgl. TOUNOBIS. Tara- hier is te lees soos ǀǀtara- en gelyk te stel met Nama ǀǀgara- = kokerboom. Die -hap is soos 11ha-b = 'die Schlucht, die Kluft' (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 160). Tarahap is dan 'Kokerboomskloof', toegepas op die berg. Die graadvierkant is soos op Alexander se kaart.
