The meaning of the mountain name per Hahn and, as nearly a century later given by Krenz in his statement, apparently hit a special case that had only limited reference force, so the old name became extinct. Krenz chooses to ground words: Damas- = Dama woman ('Bantufrau'), -Daob = 'Schamgeftihl' (Rust 1960 DNW 52, spelled Taob), and 11Goe = 'Liege' (Rest 39), plus the index of mountain names, viz. The -B (ml. Ekv.) Linguistically, Krenz's statement is very good.

In ons poging om Hahn se opgawe te situeer en te korreleer, het ons gebruik gemaak van die reeks SWA 1965 Spesiale vel Walvisbaai ruitsone 33K, en daarop staan die plek ingeskryf as 'Aran ueisberge' vir Arandisberge, d.w.s. die -d- het geword -ue-. Die betekenis van die bergnaam per Hahn en soos byna 'n eeu later gegee deur Krenz in sy verklaring, slaan blykbaar op ’n besondere geval wat net beperkte verwysingskrag gehad het, sodat die ou naam uitgesterf het. Krenz kies tot grondwoorde: Damas- = Damavrou ('Bantufrau'), -daob = 'Schamgeftihl' (Rust 1960 DNW 52, gespel taob), en 11goe = 'liegen' (Rust 39), plus die indeks van bergname, nl. die -b (ml. ekv.) Taalkundig sluit Krenz se verklaring heel goed.
