In addition to the linguistic judgment for the declaration of Tsawisis as 'Ebbenhoutfontein' there is also topographical support. ' Ebony 'and' Ebony's head 'is probably translations of the old Khoekhoense name Tsawisis that no longer appears on our modern country cards.

In TH A** 1054 het ons die mening uitgespreek dat die naam verband hou met die tsawi- of Euclea pseudebenus, in die volksmond swartebbenhout of basterebbenhout. Op die Topografiese reeks 1965 vel Walvisbaai kom die name 'Ebony se Kop' en 'Ebony' voor, laasgenoemde vir ’n sylyn.
