ǀGarimûǃâs

This is our only recording to the Khoekhoen name. The name currently disappeared from the cards. Only the hereral name occurs for the farms Otjiarua Nos 221 and 222, northern Steinhausen. According to prof. Kohler O 1958 AFR. Heimat calendar 103 means Otjiarua 'Der Platz der Vaabscheut WIRD'. If there is a semantic connection between the Herero and Khoekhoense names for the same place, then we search for the member ǀ Gari-rather connection at ǀ Gari-S = 'Blutschware' (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 76), A dread infectious livestock disease that makes the place be disturbed, rather than, as Mr Krenz did, at ǀ Gari = Growth Grass (Kr.. there). The member -mu- is literally 'eye', figuratively also 'Source eye / fountain', andǃ A-S means a place, settlement. The whole then the 'place at the fountain that is avoided / abuses'. Otherwise as at Krenz. (The Missing at Hahn has been corrected by us).

Andersins soos by Krenz.
