Gaogob
Springbackfontein is farm No. 21, west of the Erong Open. It does not translate Omandumba (herero word for the kudu), and notǃ Gao-gob. Prof. Kohler's texts write the first component as Gao, and also without nasal symbol as Gao-, preceded by theǃ. In our words, noǃ Gao- before, Well aǃ Gao = cut off, stop, wait (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 91). Perhaps the name means something like 'place where the view is stopped / cut off', at GO = Sehen, Hinblicken '(Kr.-R. 109)? GaoGob was apparently the place's mountain floor name by 1870. It seems the name was lost.

Springbockfontein is plaas nr 21, wes van die Erongoberge. Dit vertaal nie Omandumba nie (Hererowoord vir die koedoebos), en ook nie ǃGao-gob nie. Prof. Kohler se tekste skryf die eerste komponent as Gao-, en ook sonder nasale simbool as Gao-, voorafgegaan deur die ǃ. In ons woorde- lyste kom geen ǃgao- voor nie, wel ’n ǃgao = afsny, ophou, wag (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 91). Miskien beteken die naam iets soos 'Plek waar die uitsig ophou/afgesny is', by go = sehen, hinblicken' (Kr.-R. 109)? Gaogob was blykbaar die plek se Bergdamanaam teen 1870. Dit lyk of die naam verlore gegaan het.
