ǃNaiǃaob

Mr Isaque acting on Mariental as interpreter replies to the question of Namaname that is striking in his knowledge. The name is based on a parable. With 'camel' apparently meant 'giraffe' or Giraf, both in Namaǃ Nai- (Rest 1960 DNW 34), and neck isǃ Au-B (Rust 44). The grade square is traveled. The same meaning, viz. 'Game camel neck', is given by Mr du Raan for this place, but with another motivation, cf. Th a ** 883 under the entry Neikub. Another spelling is neiaob. The -B (ml. Ekv.) Locates the stone (or rock).

eng Isaak HS 1977 Interpreter talk 'Nainaub of Naineub, it's actuallyǃ Nai-ǃ AUB =' camel neck '. It is the name of a stone standing there, a large stone beyond the Erongorge, there at Okombahe. He has the name, because he looks like the neck of the camel '.

Dieselfde betekenis, nl. TH A** 883 onder die inskrywing NEIKAUB. Nog ’n spelling is NEIAOB alwaar. Die -b (ml. ekv.) lokativeer die klip (of rots).
