afr Mnr Isaak wat op Mariental as tolk optree, antwoord hier op die vraag na Namaname wat in sy kennis opvallend is. Die naam berus op ’n gelykenis. Met 'kameel' word blykbaar bedoel 'kameelperd' of giraf, albei in Nama ǃnai- (Rust 1960 DNW 34), en nek is ǃau-b (Rust 44). Die graadvierkant is afgelêi. Dieselfde betekenis, nl. 'Kameelnek', word deur mnr Du Raan vir hierdie plek gegee, maar met ’n ander motivering, vgl. TH A** 883 onder die inskrywing NEIKAUB. Nog ’n spelling is NEIAOB alwaar. Die -b (ml. ekv.) lokativeer die klip (of rots).
