Geins

Mr FK Krenz 1974 confirmed that Geals were the old name of Spitskoppies, but the cricke marte caused the suspicion that in 1904 the German-African name had pushed the old name that was only applicable to an eastern part. Hahn and votes write the suction consonant as palatal, the other peoples of today let a dental hear. Krenz FK 1976 Note also knows the name with the dental, but its preference for ╪Geins. The nationality of the vowel, according to Hahn, is now realized as consonant. We could not acquire any certainty whether Spitskopjes is the direct translation or an own finding of whites as Improvards; Our interrogated settlers believe it is a translation of the Damaranam. A consideration hereby is a remark of Hahn from 1901, viz. In its Collectanea 158 '╪Geis, Ein pairs Granitkuppen 60 Meilen [97 km] N.O. 'If the ╪ga niche strain related to Hahn's 1901 ╪ga- (Collectanea 123) than money hereby his comment' ╪gab oder ╪gab, of Empowering, Das in the Luft Ragend, Bergpitze ', and then this mountain name of' Spitskoppies '(however spelled) is a direct translation. This will then follow the usual pattern that is noticed in such cases again. There are also other 'Spitskoppies' that are unambiguously significant, cf. e.g. Gouib.

GOUIB.
