Ons vraag of dit nie ook kan beteken 'Grootpad' nie (vgl. TH A* 342 waar ook hierdie Gaidaus bespreek is) het hulle verwerp. Hulle ken die plaas Gaidaus nr 498, suid van Otavi. Klankassosiatief sluit die Gai- aan by Nama ǀgei-s = 'Stampftanz' (Rust 1960 DNW 60) [ ǀgai-s]. Ons neem aan dat -dau- te verstaan is as dao, ook da = 'treten' (Rust 62), trap- of dans- plek, met lokativerende -s (sing, fern.)
