Samanab

Samanab is a sandy north of the Uniab River and in the waaisand dunes of the Namib. The statements are obviously sound association. However, we refer to Samama that means irrible 'Byeneslaagte'. We believe that the first ingredient is also understood as Nama Sam = 'Honig Aus Dem Nest Holen' (Kr.-r. 1969 NW 339), rather than Sam = We, as at our first, or as Sam- = the Mother's breast, as at the second segsman. The second ingredient is then perhaps to understand as at Mr. Du Raan, D.I. Like Nama -na = 'Beissen' (Kr.-R. 267), viz. of the bees when their honey is taken out. The view of 'bypeat' is already contained in other names, cf. o.a. Hawuchanas.

HAWUCHANAS.
