afr Die plaas Gabus nr 52 le aan die oostelike hang van die Gabusberge. ’n Verband is noodwendig. Bergname gaan gewoonlik uit op -b of -p (ml. ekv.) sodat die -s by hierdie bergnaam laat vermoed dat dit op die berg oorgedra is van byvoorbeeld die fonteinnaam wat later plaasnaam kon geword het. Moontlik was daar verskeie fonteine wat opvallend laf ge- smaak het, en dat dit die beginpunt was ook vir die berg. Krenz se verklaring stem presies ooreen met die van Xaregeb en sy span, vgl. GABUS
