Uitsab

Not signed here by Dr. Vedder, but came from him. Clearly a case of eye-philology, outgoing of ^ iii = 'hinausschauen', 'Lauern', and TSA = try. Dr Hartmann writes the first member with a dental suction consonant, not with a palatal ╪ as at Dr. Vedder. Broadcast (with ǀ front) comes four times at Hartmann, as Fountain (S 1817), as Puts (near Grootfontein), as 'ǀ Broadab Kegel', and there near (S 2015) as 'ǀ Broada Spitz Celebration'. The thought of 'Loerkop' was probably given by the fact that people wanted to look at the Okonjainjaberg [Spelling of Koehler], the highest peak in the reserve Otjohorongo. So at Koehler O 1959 Omaruru 70 'This Peak is Calledǃ Ui-Tsab by The Bergdama and Probably Means 'TRY (TSAB) to Look Out (ǃ UI)', for the Okonjainja Peak Can Be Sen From All Corners of the Reserve. .. 'Argument not clear. We remind that Dr Hartmann has listened to the Segsmen himself, and that the member is heard, and possession may have on Nama ǀ Ui- = stone, mountain, rock (Kr.- R. 1969 NW 369) , with -tsa and place-right suffik (Hahn 1901 Collectanea 139), therefore about 'Klippan, -puts, fountain, cone,'? afr Hier nie deur dr Vedder onderteken nie, maar wel van horn afkomstig. So by Koehler O 1959 Omaruru 70 'This peak is called ǃUi-tsab by the Bergdama and probably means ‘try (tsab) to look out (ǃui)’, for the Okonjainja peak can be seen from all corners of the Reserve...'
