On old maps, this important pan and water location are entered as 'Nur-A gas'. It was on the route of C. Von Francois in 1891-92. Today it is 'Nur-U-Gas', farm No. 923, northeast of Grootfontein, and next to it is still known as 'Maroelaboom'. The meaning as at Mr Xaregeb and his team.

Hartmann 1904 map 'Nuragas', a pan. The same on sprigade noisier 1904 Kriegsk and on DSWA series 1910 Blatt 12 Grootfontein, but later 'Nurugas', so on SWA series 1976 Skin 1918 Grootfontein. Xaregeb e 1977 and six others Khoekhoen of Grootfontein Conversation 'He is Inurugas, or we say inurigas,' gossip '. Now they call him Maroelaboom.'
