The -Sas are mis-- kien dialecties for Nama or Dama (Schultze) TSA or Tsou- = Puts, in any case it is connected with 'water' or 'waterhole'. The recent statement sees in the new Nama word ╪nu = litter, sit, settle (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 307). It seems as if the older statement without a doubt serves the preference, 'black water' was then the common name and was apparently later replaced by the original, inland.
