ǂNūtsaus

The older notes of 1904 see in the first member Nama ╪nu = black, in fact, the Afrikaans name was apparently main name. The -Sas are mis-- kien dialecties for Nama or Dama (Schultze) TSA or Tsou- = Puts, in any case it is connected with 'water' or 'waterhole'. The recent statement sees in the new Nama word ╪nu = litter, sit, settle (Kr.-R. 1969 NW 307). It seems as if the older statement without a doubt serves the preference, 'black water' was then the common name and was apparently later replaced by the original, inland.

Description
eng The older notes of 1904 see in the first member Nama ╪nu = black, in fact, the Afrikaans name was apparently main name.
