Die waterplek le aan die wapad, noordelik van Grootfontein en in daardie distrik, ongeveer op die plaas Sus 276 of Vogelsang 284. Die suigkonso- nante maak die verklaring moontlik. Die eerste lid is Nama ǃo-ǃo-b, 'ein sparrig verzweigter, sehr dorniger Strauch' (Wiss 1974 Botanische Mitt 30), die Azima tetracantha ook genoem stinkbos (Smith 1966 CNSAP 596). Die -cha- dui aan dat die ondeurdringbare struikgewas daar volop is, nl. by die -am-s = mond, wateropening, kuil. Die bronnaam kom nie as plaasnaam voor nie. Die 'Bron/Puts waar baie stinkbosse staan'.
